Orlando's 4th annual "No Fufuness" fantasy basketball league's season is officially underway. Team owners drafted (Sunday, October 23rd) the players they best thought would take them to the promise land. Here are each team's draft grades, listed in order of the ESPN's fantasy projection system.
This is the 2nd blog post in a continuous story about the fantasy basketball league. Please read the preseason edition of this blog to get the full background. Click the button below to quickly access the post.
1. Team Not Commish
GM: Aldemar Draft Grade: B+
Team Not Commish has an abundance in experimental Point Guards and lots of star power in his best 5. However, he lacks depth in the Front court. Rumors have it there seems to be a trade in the mix. Expect heavy usage of Kevin Durant.
2. Team Torres
GM: Kevin Draft Grade: B+
Team Torres has a lot of depth in most positions and owns a lot of house hold names; such as Stephen Curry, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin. He lacks depth at Shooting Guard but is actively looking to fill that void. He Drafted Blake Griffin with his second pick, a little too early in the opinion of most, but we'll see if that gamble pays off.
3. Team OVOXO
GM: Joey Draft Grade: A-
Team OVOXO has plenty of fire power on this roster. It looks as though General Manager Joey, did his homework. ESPN has this team projected to finish 3rd this season, but I have a feeling his players are going to show plenty of appreciation to Joey for having selected them.
4. Team Unrewarded Champ
GM: Daz Draft Grade: A-
Overall, Team Unrewarded Champ's roster is looking powerful at all postions. He used an early pick to draft Rebound King, Andre Drummond, but we'll see how that pays off in the long run. He might have the steal of the draft after taking Monta Ellis in the late rounds.
5. Team Jones
GM: Julio Draft Grade: B+
Team Jones entered the draft room late and essentially had Auto-pick do the work for him. Barring that, The highlights of this team are scary.. KAT and ANT on one team?? If they manage to remain healthy, you're looking at potentially two top 5 fantasy players.
6. Team Evan Evan Evan Turner (Formerly known as Team Tamarez)
GM: Gabe Draft Grade: B
This team has the potential to really explode this season. Almost all of these players are young and on the rise on their respective teams. That being said, once these players hit their stride, this team will benefit handsomely.
7. Team Gonzalez
GM: Jeffy Draft Grade: B
Team Gonzalez's roster has the number one ranked player in James Harden, according to ESPN. Thus meaning you cannot sleep on this team. Plenty of talent to go around when looking at this roster, expect this team to be active in trades and topping the FTs category.
8. Team Kassim
GM: Rashad Draft Grade: B
Team Kassim, as always, drafted the highest potential-injury prone players. If these players stay healthy and hit their respective ceilings, this team can really maximize in a number of stats.
9. Team Mangual
GM: Carlos Draft Grade: B-
If Damian Lillard and Paul George have MVP type seasons, which they are more than capable of having, then this team can rise the ranks. But it's truly dependent on those players. Keep a watchful eye on this roster as the season goes on. Also, Oladipo can really help this team.
10. Team Grimess
GM: Gabby Draft Grade: B-/C+
Team Grimess has a pretty good starting 5 on paper. However, she's banking on a lot of the other players to have monstrous seasons, which I am having trouble seeing happening. This team can significantly improve its depth by seeking the gold that has surely been left in the wire. Nonetheless, this roster has strong pieces that, if used correctly, can further strengthen the team.
