Christmas day for the NBA is what Thanksgiving day is for the NFL, full of the top teams, or at least the most fan favorite teams, going toe-to-toe on this glorious holiday. There are no other sports on this day but NBA Basketball, so all eyes are on the hardwood. This year we have 5 games, featuring the NBA's best all-stars and rising studs. The ten teams in play on December 25th, 2016 include the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. Here are our predictions for this year's NBA on Christmas Day.
Boston Celtics @ New York Knicks 12:00PM ET ESPN
Prediction: Currently how the Eastern Conference standings look as 12/21, we have the number 3 seed (BOS) and the number 5 seed (NYK) Atlantic division rivals tipping off the Christmas day special. These teams have met once already this season, in Boston, with the Celtics taking home the victory with a 115-87 thrashing on the Knicks back in November. However the Knicks are 10-4 at home and I expect them to continue their excellent play on christmas. I got the Knicks with a tight victory over the Celtics. 107-102.
Golden State Warriors @ Cleveland Cavaliers 2:30PM ET ABC
Prediction: The Finals rematch we've all been waiting for is finally here. This is the first of two meetings for these heavy weights as the reigning NBA Champion, Cleveland Cavaliers, play host to the number one team in the league, Golden State Warriors. Golden State currently holds a league best 25-4 record while the Cavaliers own the Eastern Conference's best record at 20-6. I got the Warriors dominating this game and pulling out a 115-94 victory at the Quicken Loans Arena.
Chicago Bulls @ San Antonio Spurs 5:00PM ET ABC
Prediction: The Last time these two met, the Bulls prevented the Spurs from tying the record for best start for away games in a season. I'm pretty sure this left a sour taste in Coach Greg Popovich's mouth as he stated his team "needed to do their job". The Bulls haven't been that great on the road either, so I like San Antonio's chances in this game. San Antonio wins it 92-81.
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Oklahoma City Thunder 8:00PM ET ESPN
Prediction: I think the NBA, as most other experts, thought the Wolves would really turn out and mature this season, thus the reason they were chosen to play on Christmas day. Or it could just be they're a young and up and coming team full of potential stars. Either way you put it, I don't see the Wolves stopping Russell Westbrook and the rest of the the Thunder. Thunder take this one 103-97.
Los Angeles Clippers @ Los Angeles Lakers 10:30PM ET ESPN
